Suzanne C. Staley
Certified Appraiser & Broker Of Fine Art &
Antiques

When seeking an appraiser, be sure that the individual has formal training and is familiar with your type of property and the different valuations applicable to your situation. Read their resume with an eye to training that will be helpful to your specific situation. Inquire as to the level of training the appraiser has attained. Accredited appraisers have taken the basic courses while the Certified appraisers have completed advanced courses in appraising specific types of property. If you have items outside the appraiser's expertise, make sure that they will seek other expert advice when putting these items in your appraisal report. The fees that are charged should be based on an hourly rate or per item charge. Finally, you should receive a formal typewritten report with photographs that presents the information in an orderly manner written to the standards of ISA.

Mrs. Staley is an experienced appraiser of antiques, fine art, sculpture, and other general residential contents. She became an appraiser in 1992 and has been actively appraising since then. She is past president of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the International Society of Appraisers. She is active with the national organization of ISA and the Fine Art Committee.

Mrs. Staley stands among some of the beautiful
objects of art that she has appraised.

"Appraising provides a venue whereby I feel that I genuinely help my clients. By providing them with values on their property and also some history, I open a window on their family's past and onto our civilization's past. When researching art (paintings, prints, and sculpture), finding an artist who is known in one particular region or state is to explore our national regional cultural identity. Art and antiques are our history and I enjoy discovering these stories everyday. My mission is to provide timely well-written reports for clients. Whether the need be for: Insurance, Estates, Divorce, Bankruptcy or just curiosity, the same care and thoughtfulness go into preparing each and every appraisal report."
